Fannie Mae, working with its lender partners, develops and funds mortgages. This Fannie Mae website has an excellent collection of mortgage calculators and good explanations of different types of loan programs. (Fannie Mae doesn't make loans directly to home buyers. Instead, it work with mortgage lenders to make sure they have money to lend.)

Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp (Freddie Mac)

Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress in 1970 to create a continuous flow of funds to mortgage lenders in support of homeownership and rental housing. Freddie Mac purchases mortgages from lenders and packages them into securities that are sold to investors.
