Mediterranean Revival StylesRancho EncinalA well-known example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture in Dallas was built in 1939-40 for Everette Lee Degolyer, the pioneering petroleum geologist. The 13-room home named El Rancho Encinal is located on the grounds of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society, on the eastern shore of White Rock Lake. It is claimed that Mr. Degolyer once humorously remarked that his home was "a California architect’s notion of what a Texas oilman would want in attempting to duplicate a Mexican hacienda on the outskirts of a big modern American city."
